A mask mandate in effect for all New York healthcare facilities ended on Sunday.
The state Department of Health will now ask individual hospitals and medical facilities to follow the CDC’s guidelines and come up with their own plan for when masking may be required for patients or employees.
A steady drop in overall COVID cases and deaths in recent months permitted the state to drop the mandate.
