Ilion Man Pleads Guilty to Possession of Firearm after Fleming Traffic Stop

An Ilion man has pled guilty to criminal possession of a weapon after a traffic stop in the Town of Fleming last October.

District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonocci reports that 21-year old Donnie Birdine admitted to possessing a 9mm pistol reported stolen from the State of Florida.

State Troopers and Cayuga County Sheriff’s Deputies were conducting a DWI investigation when they noticed the handgun in his waistband. During the subsequent search of the vehicle and his person, cocaine and a scale were also found.

Birdine faces five years in prison followed by five years post-release supervision when he is sentenced on June 15th.
