FLCC Viticulture Students Tour Waterloo Container

SHARE NOW

Waterloo Container hosted students and faculty from Finger Lakes Community College at their headquarters in Waterloo for an educational experience to broaden their understanding of packaging as it relates to the wine industry as a whole.

“Our students take the grapes they harvest during their fall semester through fermentation onto fining, blending, sweeting trials in the spring and finish with bottling and labeling all final wine blends.  This final step would not be possible without the long-standing support from Bill Lutz and Waterloo Container.  Knowing what is available to the industry locally is a benefit to our students’ future careers within this area and beyond” said Gina Lee, Viticulture and Wine Technology Coordinator at FLCC.

When asked about how Waterloo Container could help to grow the program, she replied, “Your continued financial and product support is priceless to us.  Knowing who we are and what we provide to our students (future wine makers) and relaying this info to those who cross your paths is beneficial.”

Sales Director George Hall lead a tour of the facility and an educational discussion of wine packaging options and services provided by the local company.   “To me, it is important that we share our open stock bottle, cork, and closure availability with the viticulture students studying at FLCC before they head out to their respective positions in the NY Wine Industry. While giving the tour, I was able to educate the students on bottle styles, closure options, and next level packaging. Waterloo Container proudly supports this program and wants nothing more than to see the program continue to grow.  We value the relationship we have with FLCC and their Viticulture and Wine Technology program and want nothing more than for it to have continued success creating the next generation of wine industry leaders.”

While touring the facility students also had the chance to also see first-hand packaging operations and equipment lines and machines related to repack, shrink sleeving, warehousing and inventory.  “If I had one message for students who weren’t in the program already it would be to Check it out! What’s more fun than being part of an industry with unlimited growth potential?” added Hall.
