Finger Lakes Land Trust Acquires 160 Acres of Land in Owasco Lake Watershed

160 acres of land in the Owasco Lake Watershed has been added to the Finger Lakes Land Trust.

The trust says it has accepted the donation of a conservation easement of the farmland in the Town of Scipio from local resident Barbara Post and her five siblings – Roger, Marilyn, Ken, Nancy, and Linda. .

The land is composed of agricultural fields and a stream which meanders into Owasco Lake.

While the property itself will remain in private hands, the easement will ensure the land remains undeveloped, protecting the health of the lake.

The Land Trust protects over 29-thousand acres of land in the region.
