The State Board on Electric Generation Siting and the Environment has denied a rehearing request relating to the proposed solar farm in the Town of Conquest.
The board voted Tuesday to approve an order of rejection proposed by an administrative law judge to deny a rehearing request on Garnet Energy LLC’s 200 megawatt solar farm to be built in the northern Cayuga County town.
After the board granted Garnet permission for construction in October of 2022, a group of locals formed the Rural Preservation and Net Conservation Benefit Coalition to challenge avian impact studies done by Garnet’s parent company, NextEra.
The siting board ruled that the coalition’s petition did not meet the standard for a rehearing.
Garnet is expected to begin commercial operation this year.
