One man has dropped out of the race to become Seneca County’s next sheriff.
In an email to the Finger Lakes Times, Mike Rhinehart said he has decided not to run for sheriff as he will instead seek reelection to the Seneca County Board of Supervisors.
He is a 27-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, having retired in 2019.
This leaves Lieutenant Tim Thompson and retired deputy John Morabito vying for the position.
