In addition to 62-million dollars in funding being included for the Canandaigua VA project in the recently passed omnibus spending package for this fiscal year, another local project was also included.
Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand said they worked to secure one-MILLION dollars for the YMCA of Greater Rochester to construct the new Canandaigua YMCA. The money will help fund the construction of the new Sands Family YMCA that will provide childcare, aging adult services, family services, health care and more.
The Sands Family donated 13.5-MILLION dollars for the proposed 75-THOUSAND square-foot facility which is slated to open this fall.
