The Cayuga Indian Nation has opened a new marijuana store in Union Springs.
The Citizen reports “Sweet Grass Dispensary” has opened for business at 121 Cayuga Street, a former pizzeria. The Nation has moved its pot business from the Lakeside Trading Gas Station closer to the center of the village.
In July 2021, the village passed a local law opting out of the cannabis business everywhere except “the Lakeside Trading gas station.” Village officials say the old pizzeria location on Main Street is an inappropriate location for a dispensary.
The Citizen reports the village is now reviewing its options before taking any action against the Cayuga Nation.
The Nation sells marijuana in both Union Springs and Seneca Falls.
