Watkins Glen International and New York State STOP-DWI are once again teaming up to create a special VIP Prom Experience for local students from three different high schools. The initiative, which began in 2023, will be offered to students from Watkins Glen High School, Odessa-Montour High School and Dundee High School.

Students will have the opportunity to take the pledge not to drink & drive when they purchase their prom tickets. By taking the pledge, they will be entered to win transportation to and from prom in Watkins Glen International Official Pace Car, complimentary dinner at the Harbor Hotel in Watkins Glen, and a tour of Watkins Glen International with pictures in Victory Lane. Two students from each school will be selected for this memorable experience.

“New York State does such an incredible job with their STOP-DWI program, and we’re happy to once again be a part of the efforts to encourage safe driving practices in our own neighborhood,” said Dawn Burlew, President of Watkins Glen International. “We always strive to support the young adults in our community, and joining forces with STOP-DWI to provide a little extra prom night flair will help create lasting memories for those local students.”

The New York State STOP-DWI program is available in all counties in New York and seeks to reduce alcohol and drug-related driving injuries and fatalities. The organization provides extensive education for schools and community groups on the dangers of driving while intoxicated, as well as training for professionals, support for victims, and other various videos, tools and resources.

“New York State STOP-DWI has partnered with Watkins Glen International to promote sober driving by offering a unique VIP prom experience. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of making responsible choices behind the wheel, especially among young drivers,” said Tracy Mance, New York State STOP DWI Foundation Chair. “Through this special collaboration, selected students will have the opportunity to enjoy an exclusive experience at the renowned race track, highlighting that celebrations like prom can be fun, memorable, and safe without the influence of alcohol or drugs. By connecting the excitement of high-profile events with the message of sober driving, STOP-DWI and Watkins Glen International are working together to inspire a new generation to prioritize safety and responsibility”

Students at Watkins Glen High School, Odessa-Montour High School and Dundee High School can enter for a chance to win the VIP Prom Experience by signing up when purchasing tickets to their 2025 Prom and signing the pledge document.
