A local World War II Navy Veteran is the recipient of the Elks Medal.
Doug Gibbs, the Yates County Director of Veteran Services, presented the medallion to Blaine Strauser at his home with his family in attendance. The medallion was awarded to Mr. Strauser in recognition of his service to the country by the New York State Elks Association West Central District at their American Patriot Remembrance Ceremony. The Penn Yan Elks Lodge nominated him.
During his service, Mr. Strauser was awarded the American Theater Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
