SHARE NOW

A local woman will spend five months in Yates County Jail after admitting to stealing almost 95-THOUSAND dollars from a relative.

In addition to 150 days behind bars, Elizabeth Hand, of Milo, was also sentenced to five years post-release supervision and to pay full restitution after pleading guilty to felony second-degree grand larceny. The 53-year-old stole the money in 2020 and 2021 after she became a power of attorney for an elderly relative who lives in Penn Yan.

The Finger Lakes Times reports an investigation into the theft began when friends of the victim became aware he had no money despite a pension.
