Next year’s Yates County budget will see the county share $856,000 in sales tax revenue with its towns and villages. Former Yates County Legislator Taylor Fitch said this was a process he started to undertake several years ago.
Taylor said all of the county’s town and village clerks unanimously supported his efforts, including Penn Yan Village Clerk Holly Easling. She said the shared revenue will come at a perfect time for the Yates County village.
The amount to be shared with each town and village will be based on population, with the village of Penn Yan set to receive about $174,000 dollars in 2024. The county legislature will make final approval on the 2024 budget later this month
