Thursday is National Opioid Awareness Day and Yates County Public Health is holding a NARCAN training for its residents.
Narcan is used for emergency treatment of opioid overdose. It’s an opioid antagonist, which means it works by blocking certain receptors in your body that opioids bind to. By blocking these receptors, Narcan helps to reverse symptoms of opioid overdose.
Thursday’s training is available to anyone over the age of 18 between noon and 4 p.m. at FLACRA Connections Rounded Recovery at 20 Maiden Lane in Penn Yan. Training will take place every 15 minutes.
