Yates County will soon be applying for a $400,000 Community Development Block Grant from the state. David Prete, Executive Director of the Keuka Housing Council, says they’ll be working together with the county in applying for this funding.
“We have decided in collaboration with Yates County to go forward with submitting the application for a Community Development Block Grant to replace or repair septic systems and wells through a grant funded through New York State,” said Prete. ” We will apply for the grant on behalf of the county and will be the lead agency for the funding if awarded.”
The Community Development Block Grant program is administered by the New York State Office of Community Renewal (OCR), and will make available to eligible local governments approximately 10 million dollars for the 2023 program year for housing, economic development, public facilities, public infrastructure, and planning activities, with the principal purpose of benefitting low/moderate income persons.
The application is due to the state by August 7th. There were no comments from the public on the grant application at Monday’s Yates County Legislature meeting.
