Yates County State of Emergency Extended

SHARE NOW

Yates County’s Emergency Declaration over the anticipation of an influx of asylum seekers and illegal immigrants to our region has been extended.

Over the holiday weekend, Legislature Chairwoman Leslie Church signed an extension for the State of Emergency to continue until it expires again on June 1st. Church says the county does not have the resources to assist and care for undocumented immigrants and this would adversely impact the county’s ability to provide an adequate level of services to county taxpayers.
