A joint task force involving the Sheriff’s Office and Farm Bureau in Yates County is hosting a Think-Tank session Thursday night that will focus on increasing Slow Moving Vehicle awareness and safety.
According to state law, a Slow Moving Vehicle defined as any vehicle that travels under 25 miles per hour on the road. That includes agriculture and highway construction equipment, horse and buggies, and bicycles. When it comes to awareness of agriculture equipment, Larry Lewis, Farm Bureau President, said those in his line of work need to do more too.
John Kriese says even newer agricultural equipment needs to follow specific guidelines.
The public is invited to Thursday night’s meeting at the Yates County Auditorium in Penn Yan. Starting at 6:30, Sheriff Ron Spike will give a keynote address and presentation on SMV safety. That will be followed by a think-tank session to create an action plan in the county for Small Vehicle Moving awareness awareness and safety.
