    IMPACTS
    The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 15 to 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Yates County Sheriff’s Office Steps Up DWI Surveillance This Weekend

Yates County area police agencies and the STOP-DWI Program will participate in special efforts to bring awareness to the dangers of impaired driving. The statewide STOP- DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign runs before and after Labor  Day.  The end of summer is one of the busiest travel times of the year. The  State  Police, Sheriff’s Office, and Penn Yan police will collaborate in this coordinated effort to reduce the number of impaired driving-related injuries and deaths.
The STOP-DWI Labor Day/End of Summer High Visibility Engagement Campaign is one of many statewide initiatives promoted by STOP-DWI NY and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee. Highly visible, highly publicized efforts like the  STOP-DWI High Visibility  Engagement Campaign aim to further reduce the incidence of drunk and impaired driving.
