Yates County Sheriff Ron Spike attended the State of the Union address by President Joe Biden in the U.S. Capitol Tuesday. Sheriff Spike was the guest of Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, who now represents Yates County in the House of Representatives.
Rep. Tenney said, “Sheriff Spike is the embodiment of a public servant, and I look forward to working with him and other law enforcement leaders across the 24th Congressional District to keep our communities safe.”
Sheriff Spike, who is attending a conference in Washington D.C. this week, sent Finger Lakes Daily News this email on Monday after we learned of his invitation to the SOTU.
“I was surprised yet so honored to get the call from Congresswoman Claudia Tenney’s office to be her guest at the State of the Union this coming Tuesday evening, ” Sheriff Spike wrote in an email. “I am humbled by the opportunity to be actually present and witness such an event that is part of this country’s heritage. I sincerely thank her for recognizing a Sheriff in this matter.”
