UPDATE:  Leslie Church was unanimously re-elected as Chair of the Yates County Legislature on Monday.  In 2022, Church became the first woman elected Chair of the Yates County Legislature. Edward Bronson was chosen as Vice-Chair on Monday.

We will have more on this story on Tuesday.

The Yates County Legislature is holding its annual organizational meeting this morning in the Legislative Chambers at the County Office Building in Penn Yan.

Lawmakers will elect a Chair and Vice-Chair for the year and vote on several reappointments for key county positions. Among those being reappointed are Emilee Miller as Clerk of the Legislature, Scott Falvey as County Attorney, Jessica Mullins as County Administrator and Budget Officer, Leigh Battin as Director of Finance, and Matthew Tantillo as Public Defender.

The Legislature will also appoint new members to local economic development boards, including Ryan Hallings, Janice Gaub, and Jesse Jayne, who will serve on the Finger Lakes Economic Development Center, Yates Capital Resource Corporation, and Finger Lakes Horizon Economic Development Corporation boards.

The meeting began at 11 a.m., with these appointments and reappointments helping to set the stage for the county’s work in 2026.
