Yates County Legislature to Discuss Public Transportation Options at Special Meeting

SHARE NOW

A special meeting of the Yates County Legislature will be held at the end of the month to discuss and review two proposed resolutions that deal with the county’s public transportation source.

The resolutions would allow the county to go out for a request for proposal for public transit or authorize Regional Transit Service out of Rochester as the county’s public transit authority starting in 2026. Last week, a resolution that would have started the process of Yates County becoming a member of the Rochester-Genesee Regional Transportation District was tabled by the County Legislature at the request of its current public transportation provider, Yates Transit. Tammy Slayton with Moziac, the parent company of Yates Transit, explained at the meeting why it was important for the county to table the resolution then.

The February 27th special meeting in the Legislative Chambers at the Yates County Courthouse in Penn Yan starts at 2 p.m.
