The Yates County Clerk is providing a free new tool to help property owners protect one of their most valuable assets, their property.
With Fraud Alert, Yates County property owners can sign up to receive email alerts whenever a document, such as a deed or mortgage, is recorded in Yates County under their name.
“This is an easy way for residents and property owners to have peace of mind regarding fraudulent property transfers”, said County Clerk Molly Linehan. “Those who choose to sign up will have the opportunity to receive notifications for up to three different names or name variations for each email address entered, at no cost.”
Property owners can sign up now by clicking on the “Deed & Mortgage Fraud Alert Service” tab located on the Yates County Clerk’s county webpage. Please note that there may be other property owners in Yates County who share the same name.
Documents can be viewed online or in person at the Yates County Clerk’s Office located at 417 Liberty Street, Penn Yan.
