The July meeting of the Yates County Legislature lasted less than a half-hour on Monday.
Among the resolutions approved were authorizing Chairwoman Leslie Church to sign a letter of support for Penn Yan’s Milly’s Pantry. The non-profit is applying for funding through the New York State Office of Parks and Recreation and Historic Preservation program to support its building restoration project.
A resolution to allow the sheriff’s office to fill a deputy sheriff sergeant position also passed. County Highway Superintendent Doug Rapalee was permitted to create and fill a full-time auto mechanic position with the pending retirement of a current employee in September. Lawmakers also approved changing the date of its meeting in September from the 9th to the 11th because the New York State Association of Counties Fall Seminar takes place on the 9th.
