Concerned Citizens of Yates County is hosting a second public forum focused on the future of local agriculture and its economic impact.
Titled “Agribusiness and the Economy: A Yates Conversation,” the event will take place on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Benton Fire House.
Organizers say it is an opportunity for members of the community to hear comments about the developments on the horizon from local experts who are their neighbors.
Panelists include:
- Klaas Martens, organic farmer and agricultural consultant
- Scott Osborn, owner of Fox Run Vineyards and Chair of WineAmerica
- Mike Colizzi, owner of Kashong Glen Vineyards and board member of the New York Wine & Grape Foundation
- John Kriese, cattleman, Yates County Farm Bureau President, and state representative to the Cattleman’s Beef Promotion and Research Board
The discussion will be moderated by Mike Rusinko. Special guests include members and alumnae of the Penn Yan FFA, along with their advisor Carly Bossard.
The event aims to inform the public about the evolving economic, legislative, and environmental challenges facing agricultural businesses and how government policies can affect the broader community.
