The Yates County Legislature’s inability to agree on the hiring of a new county administrator is forcing the soon-to-retire Nonie Flynn to hang around a little longer than she expected.
Flynn confirmed with Finger Lakes Daily News on Tuesday she will be staying on at least through the summer. Flynn had initially planned on retiring at the end of next month, but with legislators voting to appoint Jessica Mullins to fill the position only for the rest of the year, Flynn said she will stay on to get Mullins up to speed on the budget and other responsibilities the position holds. Mullins is the county’s finance director.
“I look forward to working with Jessica,” said Flynn.
Flynn announced this month she plans on running for a County Legislature seat.
