Watkins Glen’s downtown businesses saw a boost last weekend thanks to the inaugural Wing Walk, organized and presented by the Watkins-Montour Rotary Club. The event was sponsored by the Watkins Area Chamber of Commerce and Visions Federal Credit Union.
More than 6,000 chicken wings were sampled across six participating restaurants, each donating 1,000 wings for the event. Participating eateries included The Lucky Hare Brewing Bar & Grill, Maria’s Tavern, Nickel’s Pit BBQ, Landon’s Pub, Bleachers Sports Bar, and Jerlando’s Ristorante.
Businesses that didn’t serve wings also joined in, offering special promotions and discounts to Wing Walk ticket holders. Attendees were invited to vote for their favorite wings throughout the event.
In the end, Landon’s Pub took home the People’s Choice Award, while Maria’s Tavern earned the Judges’ Choice Award.
The Wing Walk not only offered a fun day of tasting and friendly competition but also provided a welcome boost to downtown businesses during the winter season.
