Watkins Glen Residents to Vote for New Mayor Tuesday

Residents of the village of Watkins Glen will elect a new mayor on Tuesday.

Voters will decide between deputy mayor Lou Perazzini or village trustee Laurie DeNardo. Perazzini took over as deputy mayor last July after then-Mayor Luke Leszyk resigned. DeNardo has served as a village trustee for almost eight years. Three candidates are seeking two available seats on the Watkins Glen Village Board as Democrats Peter Cherock and Margaret Schimmizi along with Republican Jerri-Lynn Chronis are on the ballot. Voting Tuesday at the Community Center in Watkins Glen is from noon until 9 p.m.  Also in Schuyler County on Tuesday, Mayor Gerard Messmer the Third is running unopposed in Odessa and Thomas Letteer, Junior, is also by running by himself for a village trustee seat. A second trustee position will be decided by a write-in vote. In Burdett, the mayor and two village trustee elections are unopposed.

In Yates County, Daniel Henries, Junior, is running unopposed to fill the Penn Yan Village Trustee seat left vacant after Dan Condella was elected mayor last March. In Dresden, William Hall is running unopposed for mayor and Bret Siegrist is seeking a term as village trustee. Dundee residents also have unopposed elections as Fred Cratsley, Junior is running for re-election as Mayor, while Warren Smith and Greg Wright are running unopposed for two available seats on the village board.
