Volunteers Needed for Celebrate Service…Celebrate Yates

SHARE NOW

We are a little more than a month away from the 24th installment of Celebrate Service, Celebrate Yates, the community improvement initiative held annually in the Spring in Yates County.

Organized by a team from Keuka College and the Yates County Chamber of Commerce, along with community members, Celebrate Service Celebrate Yates is a day of volunteering to help a variety of non-profit organizations, agencies, and citizens throughout the county. As the tradition of service continues, non-profits within Yates County are encouraged to register online to receive volunteers on the Day of Service, with the deadline being March 27th.

Volunteers who register by March 27 will receive a 2023 CSCY t-shirt at check-in and may also request courtesy transportation to their assigned work site. Volunteers may also request assignments with other members of student teams, groups, or clubs, but must indicate their group on the sign-up form by March 27. Any/all members of a student group, team, or club must sign up as individuals and note their group affiliation on the form.

“Participating in CSCY can help establish connections and friendships between the College and community, and creates a sense of belonging.”

Volunteers are welcome to register on the day of the event, but are not guaranteed a t-shirt and will be assigned individual work placements.

As the tradition of service to the region’s youth camps, churches, cemeteries, libraries, fire departments, and other community organizations continues, non-profits within Yates County are encouraged to register online to receive volunteers on the Day of Service.

“CSCY is a longstanding tradition and the event is one way to connect the College to its local communities,” said Kathy Waye, Keuka College’s director of the Field Period® program and community relations. “Participating in CSCY can help establish connections and friendships between the College and community, and creates a sense of belonging. By performing community service together, we all make a positive impact on the places we live and work.”

Organizers urge area residents to join their friends and neighbors in benefiting non-profit agencies across Yates County with hands-on help.
