The following Steuben County roadways are currently closed or damaged:
- State Route 54-A from Hammondsport Village to Boyd Hill (Follow Detour A)
- State Route 415 bridge between Selleck and Quinn Road is closed; the alternate route is I-86
- CR12 – Town of Thurston end is Closed from CR333 to Star Road.
- CR21 – Hedgesville – Multiple spots of shoulder damage
- CR119 – From McMaster Road to CR 27
- CR16 – From Aulls Bradford to Quinn in Bath.
- CR113 – From Ovenshier to Faucett
- CR10 – CR15, CR 89, CR87– Open but multiple shoulder erosion and debris (use caution)
- CR11 – Multiple plugged culverts and shoulder erosion and debris (use caution)
- East Lake Road, Town of Wayne, from East Lake Road Ext. to Corning Landing.
5:30 a.m. UPDATE: Bath and Hammondsport schools are closed today due to road conditions.
Steuben County Manager Jack Wheeler is lifting the emergency travel advisory at sunrise, however motorists are urged to use caution Tuesday while traveling. A travel advisory will remain in effect. Pay attention to road closures and road conditions and watch for emergency personnel in the roadway. First responders and highway crews have been actively responding to multiple calls. The following roadways have been affected by overnight flooding Some of these roadways will remain closed while others will have limited access. SR54, SR 54-A, CR10, CR14, CR15, CR16, CR119, CR89, CR113. Also, many town roads in these areas are also affected. Stay away from these areas to allow road crews and emergency workers to clear debris.
Steuben County has declared a State of Emergency for the towns of Canisteo, Cameron, Bath, Urbana, Pulteney, and Wayne due to excessive rainfall and multiple road closures.
The County requests only Emergency Travel in these towns. First responders and highway crews are actively responding to multiple calls.
The following roadways are affected. State Routes 36, 248, 54, 54A, and County Roads 10, 14, 15, 87, 88, 89 and 117.
Residents are urged to travel only in the case of emergency in the above-mentioned towns. Help us keep the roads clear for responders to operate. Call 911 ONLY for Emergencies. Report wire calls to your local utility.
It is also important to note that State RT 54 South between the village of Penn Yan and the Steuben County line is closed due to flooding until further notice
