UPDATE:

Ryan was eliminated in the fourth round of Wednesday’s Scripps National Spelling Bee.  Congratulations to Ryan for representing Penn Yan and the Finger Lakes in this international competition!

Penn Yan’s Ryan Creary will be taking part in the quarterfinal round of the Scripps National Spelling Bee today.

The quarterfinals will stream live this morning until early afternoon here. If Ryan advances to the semifinals, they will take place later this afternoon.

Back in April, Creary, an 8th grader representing the Penn Yan Central School District, won the 2024 Wayne-Finger Lakes regional spelling bee. He earned the title of 2024 Wayne-Finger Lakes regional champion in round 8 when he correctly spelled the word “facile”.

Ryan is competing against more than 200 other spellers from across the country and world for the Scripps Cup and a $50,000 prize.
