9 A.M. UPDATE:
Ithaca police have arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with a bomb threat made yesterday.
Willem Zurr was charged with Felony Making a Terroristic Threat. Police say Monday’s threat targeted a specific location on South Cayuga Street. Police, along with explosive-detecting K9s from Ithaca and Cornell University, searched the area but found no explosives.
Zurr was sent to Tompkins County Jail following his arraignment.
Police and explosive-detecting K-9s searched a downtown Ithaca location Monday after a bomb threat was reported, but authorities say no explosives were found.
The Ithaca Police Department said the threat specifically identified 106 South Cayuga Street, Lot 10. Officers, along with K-9 units from the Ithaca Police Department and Cornell University Police, checked the building and surrounding area.
No explosives or other suspicious conditions were located, and police said there is no evidence at this time that the threat was credible.
The case remains under investigation, and no additional information has been released.
