SHARE NOW

2 P.M. UPDATE: Barking dogs are being credited for waking up a family on Christmas night and alerting them that their house was on fire.

The fire at 7581 County Route 13 in the town of Bath broke out at around 10:30. When the first units arrived on the scene, all of the residents were out of the home and a nearby vehicle was also on fire. A propane tank that was close to the home vented from the heat but did not rupture. Bath, Hammondsport, Kanona, Prattsburgh, Pulteney, Savona, the Bath VA, and the Wayne fire departments responded and all units left the scene at around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. Branchport-Keuka Park responded to its department to provide coverage for Pulteney.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
