    Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    There will be several periods of stronger winds, with this afternoon seeing strong southerly winds, then a break this evening, before stronger west wind develop tonight into Saturday.

UPDATE: 8-Year-Old Passes Away After Falling Through Ice on Yates County Pond

9:30 a.m. UPDATE:  

The Yates County Sheriff’s Office provided an update Monday on the child who fell through ice on a pond on Bath Road in the town of Milo Sunday afternoon. Despite the best efforts of Emergency Personnel and Medical Staff, the 8-year-old victim passed away at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital in Penn Yan late Sunday afternoon. The victim’s name is not being released at this time due to the ongoing investigation into the incident.

An eight-year-old boy fell through ice on a pond in Yates County Sunday afternoon.

The call came into the 9-1-1 Center shortly after one o’clock that a child was submerged in the pond on Bath Road in Milo. Shortly after arriving on the scene, members of the Penn Yan Fire Department, while wearing their cold-water rescue suits, were able to find the boy and pull him from the pond.

CPR was performed on scene and the child was rushed to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital. There has been no update on the child’s condition and the Yates County Sheriff’s Office investigation is ongoing.

Assisting the Penn Yan Fire Department and Yates County Sheriff’s Office on the scene were New York State Police, the Branchport Fire Department Dive Team, Penn Yan Ambulance and the Office of Emergency Services.
