SHARE NOW

Two children were injured when the car they were in was rammed from behind by a tractor-trailer at a work zone on State Route 14 just south of State Route 54 in Dresden on Tuesday.

A preliminary investigation by the Yates County Sheriff’s Department shows 37-year-old Brooke Draper, of Tioga, Pennsylvania, was stopped in the northbound lane when the tractor-trailer operated by 59-year-old Rondolph Fanuil rear-ended her. Two of the three children in Draper’s car suffered non-life-threatening injuries, with one of the children being airlifted to Strong.

Fanuil was ticketed for following too closely.

That portion of State Route 14, between State Route 54 and Swartout Road in Dresden, was closed for more than three hours. The accident remains under investigation.

Assisting the Yates County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday were Dresden Fire, New York State Police, the Penn Yan Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Yates County Office of Emergency Services, and Life Net.
