The year-end session for the Schuyler County Legislature saw 18 resolutions passed, including one that authorized Laury Ward and John Terry to three-year terms on the county’s Industrial Development Agency. Their terms will run from January 1st, 2024 until December 31st, 2026.

Created in 1971 as a public benefit corporation organized under the New York State General Municipal Law, the Schuyler County Industrial Development Agency provides financial assistance to qualified applicants in the form of mortgage recording tax exemption, sales, and tax exemptions, real property tax abatement, and low-interest rates for debt incurred as part of the project.

Other agenda items that passed included authorizing the creation and filling of a part-time investigator position in the Public Defender’s office and making Dewayne Butler a full-time Veterans Services Agency Officer to work alongside director Kristine Gardner.
