Starting Monday, a portion of State Route 54A in Yates County will be closed between County Routes 74 and 32 in Branchport. This will allow for the installation of a new retaining wall. Traffic will be detoured and that section of the roadway is expected to be open by May 2nd.
Further south on 54A in Steuben County, between Water Street and County Route 76 in Urbana, the roadway will be reduced to a single lane with alternating traffic to allow for the replacement of a retaining wall. The work is expected to last through the month of May.
Motorists should anticipate travel delays during this time and are advised to seek alternate routes if necessary. Construction activities are weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions.
Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
