State Senator Lea Webb has announced she is running for re-election to continue representing New York’s 52nd Senate District.
The district includes all of Cortland and Tompkins counties and parts of Broome County. Webb was first elected in 2022 and took office in 2023. She won a second term in 2024 and is now seeking a third.
In a statement, Webb said she remains focused on advocating for working families across Central New York and the Southern Tier and highlighted efforts to bring additional state funding to the region.
Webb currently serves as chair of the Senate’s Standing Committee on Women’s Issues, where she has backed legislation addressing reproductive rights, maternal health, and human trafficking prevention.
A graduate of Binghamton public schools, Webb is a first-generation college graduate of SUNY Broome and Binghamton University, where she earned a degree in neuroscience. Before joining the State Senate, she served on the Binghamton City Council and worked at Binghamton University as an educator in the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
