A special election will be held this summer to fill a vacancy on the Tompkins County Legislature.
The special election to fill Susan Currie’s District Three seat will be held June 24th and will coincide with the primary elections. The winner will fill the seat for the remainder of the year.
Currie resigned one week ago in order to return to the Tompkins County Public Library as its Interim Director.
She provided a brief farewell and thank-you message to legislators, staff, and the public at last week’s meeting. “I wanted to thank every member of the Legislature and everyone who works at the County. You do awesome work. It was an honor to serve with you,” Currie remarked. “I had my first day as the interim Director of the Tompkins County Public Library. I am a librarian, and I am glad to be back.”
More information about the specifics of the special election will be announced in the near future.
