Three Suffer Burns in Yates County House Fire

Investigators are still looking into the cause of a house fire in Yates County early Saturday morning that sent three people to the hospital.

Firefighters were initially called to 65 Main Street in Dresden for a porch fire, but the flames quickly spread throughout the structure. Dresden, Penn Yan, and West Lake Road fire departments responded and extinguished the blaze.

One of the home’s occupants, 65-year-old Susan Boyd, suffered burns to her body and face. 40-year-old Shane Jensen of Bath suffered lacerations and burns, and 21-year-old Marissa Newton, of Dresden, also suffered lacerations. One of the injured residents was airlifted to Strong and another was taken by ambulance. The third injured person was taken to Geneva General Hospital by ambulance. Two juveniles in the home escaped injury.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the victims of the fire.

Yates County, Penn Yan, Middlesex, and Gorham ambulances also responded.
