    The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 15 to 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.

    Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Three New Legislators Elected in Yates County

It looks like Yates County will have three brand new legislators in 2024.

According to the Board of Elections unofficial results from Tuesday, former county Administrator Nonie Flynn and former Penn Yan Mayor Leigh MacKerchar were elected to two seats in District Three, while Starkey Town Supervisor George Lawson has a nine-vote lead over incumbent Bonnie Percy for a seat in District Four. Incumbents Leslie Church and Dan Banach won re-election in District Three, while Jessie Jayne and William Holgate were re-elected in District Four.

In the contested race for county coroner, Brian Champlin defeated Cheryl Nickerson 62-38%
