A Trumansburg teenager was killed and another seriously injured following a crash Monday morning in the Town of Hector.
The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 11:45 a.m. on County Road 1. Deputies arrived to find a 2010 Ford Fusion that had gone off the road after failing to negotiate a curve and struck several trees.
The passenger, 17-year-old Marcus Knight of Trumansburg, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 18-year-old Michael Blake of Ithaca, was airlifted to Upstate Medical University Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The Trumansburg and Enfield fire departments, Trumansburg Ambulance, the Schuyler County Coroner’s Office, and New York State Police accident reconstruction team assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office.
