A teenager is facing charges after allegedly being involved in a hit-and-run accident over the weekend in the city of Ithaca.
The accident happened at around six on Saturday morning on East Seneca Street. The car was located a short time later in a nearby parking lot but the driver fled recklessly and at a high rate of speed. Police say the driver, who has not been identified, returned to the accident location a short time later and resisted arrest. After calming the teen down and taking them into custody, police located bottles of alcohol, drug paraphernalia, and a loaded handgun magazine in the car. The teenager was also determined to be impaired and was taken into custody on undisclosed charges.
The driver was being held in police custody pending arraignment in Ithaca City Court
