SUNY Corning Sees Enrollment Jump As Fall Semester Begins

SHARE NOW

SUNY Corning Community College officially kicked off its Fall 2025 semester this past Monday, welcoming students back to campus and online programs.

The College reports a 14% increase in overall enrollment compared to Fall 2024, including a 15% rise in new student registrations. The majority of students — 84% — come from the College’s three-county service region of Chemung, Steuben, and Schuyler.

College officials say the growth reflects continued interest in accessible, high-quality education and the region’s commitment to workforce development and academic opportunities.

The College also shared the following:

• The first cohort of SUNY Reconnect students began classes today. Reconnect covers a free degree for New Yorkers aged 25-55 with no prior college degree and enrolled in degree programs in high-demand fields. This program is also accepting applicants for the spring, and more information can be found here.

• The Health Studies A.S. newly offers three tracks: Community and Public Health Education, Allied Health, and Healthcare Management. These tracks are aligned to meet the demands of the local healthcare industry.

• New micro-credential offerings in the healthcare sector include Behavioral Health Aide and Health Care Administration.

• A new Optical Systems Technology articulation agreement is now in place with Monroe Community College for those interested in pursuing a career as an Optical Technician.

• The SUNY CCC Makerspace, in the Schuyler Building on the Spencer Hill Campus, has expanded hours for those interested in exploring their creative side. The Makerspace features a vast array of equipment, including 3D printing, CNC machining, laser engraving, vinyl cutting, woodworking, and welding.
