A Steuben County woman will spend six months in jail and 10 years on probation after pleading guilty to a felony rape charge. 46-year-old Jolene Spaulding, of Corning, will also be required to register as a sex offender.
Authorities say Spaulding worked for about four months as a Youth Care Professional at a Bath-based residential treatment facility for at-risk youth. She was placed on administrative leave last June after administrators raised concerns about potential misconduct.
The investigation began when law enforcement responded to reports of a missing juvenile from Snell Farms. Spaulding and the juvenile were later found together in a parked vehicle at a local park. An investigation revealed that Spaulding had engaged in a sexual relationship with the juvenile. She was subsequently arrested on felony counts of kidnapping and rape.
