A Steuben County woman has been indicted on 30 charges for allegedly stealing a total of $45,000 from two school organizations.
Kari Warner was arrested back in February after State Police in Painted Post investigated a larceny complaint from the Calvin U. Smith Parent Teacher Association in Painted Post. That investigation determined Warner allegedly stole $20,000 from the PTA and $25,000 from the Corning-Painted Post CSEA Union 8710 while serving as treasurer for both organizations. The thefts allegedly occurred between August 2024 and January.
Warner was indicted on 18 counts of grand larceny, six counts of petit larceny, four counts of falsifying business records, and a single count of forgery and scheme to defraud. She is scheduled to be arraigned in Steuben County Court in the future.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
