The Steuben County Youth Bureau is excited to announce the opening of nominations for two prestigious awards that recognize outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to the betterment of youth programs in Steuben County. The 2025 “Champion for Youth” Award and the 2025 Gary S. Pruyn “Youth Service Worker” Award will honor community members and youth service workers who have dedicated their time and efforts to positively impact the lives of Steuben County youth.

2025 “Champion for Youth” Award

This award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and support for youth programs in the community. The recipient will be someone who has worked “behind the scenes” to positively impact the lives of youth in Steuben County through their role as a community leader, program administrator, key volunteer, committed board member, or similar position. The award focuses on those who work to advance youth services on a broader scale, even if they have limited direct contact with youth.

Eligibility: Nominees must be individuals who have consistently worked to support youth programming in the county, with a proven track record of making a positive impact on the community.

Deadline: All nominations must be submitted by January 31, 2025.

Selection Process: Nominations will be reviewed by the Steuben County Youth Board, with the recipient chosen based on their actions, scope, and impact. The award will be presented at the Youth Bureau’s Annual Dinner meeting in early Spring.

2025 Gary S. Pruyn “Youth Service Worker” Award

The Gary S. Pruyn “Youth Service Worker” Award will honor an outstanding individual who provides direct service to youth in Steuben County. Ideal candidates include career youth service workers, educators, or others who have made a lasting impact in the lives of youth through their dedication to service. The recipient will have a positive track record of performance and a commitment to supporting youth in the community.

Eligibility: Nominees must be current or recent employees who provide direct services to youth in Steuben County.

Deadline: Nominations must be received by January 31, 2025.

Selection Process: The Steuben County Youth Board will select a finalist based on the individual’s deeds, performance, and impact on the lives of youth. The award will be presented at the Youth Bureau’s Annual Dinner meeting in early Spring.

Nominations Process: Nominations for both awards can be made by any community member, except family members of the nominees. Multiple nominations for an individual do not guarantee selection.
