State Police say on August 6, 2023, the victim, Michael Hinrich, of Nunda, was struck on the driver’s side door of his Camaro by a Buick as he approached a stop sign at the intersection of State Route 415 and attempted to turn south in Avoca. Hinrich was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Buick, 26-year-old Michael Eldridge of Hornell, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in each vehicle was airlifted to Strong for non-life-threatening injuries.

A passenger in Eldridge’s car and a passenger in the victim were both injured. In addition to his prison term, Eldridge was sentenced to five years of post-release supervision.
