Steuben County 911 recently completed the transition from CODE Red to NYAlert, a new and improved public notification platform.
This change is part of what the county says is its ongoing efforts to enhance communication with the community and improve the delivery of emergency alerts, notifications, and other important updates for critical events.
Late last month, the county began utilizing NYAlert for all notifications related to critical events, including weather-related emergencies, local incidents, evacuations, and public safety announcements. Eddie VanStine, the county’s Public Information Director, said NYAlert provides a more comprehensive service with enhanced features and greater reliability, ensuring that residents are promptly informed in case of an emergency.
