State officials gathered in Watkins Glen this week to discuss Governor Kathy Hochul’s proposed state budget and what it could mean for the Southern Tier.
The Southern Tier Economic Development Council held a public meeting at the Harbor Hotel, where New York Secretary of State and Regional Council Chair Walter T. Mosley highlighted key elements of the governor’s proposed Fiscal Year 2027 budget.
Mosley discussed several initiatives included in the spending plan and how they could impact economic development, infrastructure, and regional investment across the Southern Tier.
“It is the notion that affordability, affordability, and affordability is at forefront of the governor and her budget negotiating team as it relates to this budget,” said Mosley. “Understanding that she (Hochul) continues to fight she continues to bring results back to your families, and as a result, back to our future.”
Regional Economic Development Councils were created to bring together local leaders from business, government, education, and community organizations to help guide state investment and economic growth strategies in their regions.
