StarShine, Lights on Wheels Parade Returns to Penn Yan Saturday

StarShine returns to the village of Penn Yan on Saturday with the 39th annual edition set for the Yates County Courthouse Lawn on Main Street. The event will run from 3 until 6 p.m.

The village will shut down the following streets between 2 and 6 p.m. on Saturday:

Main Street (Clinton St. to North Avenue), Court Street (Liberty St. to Main St.) and Linden Street (North Avenue to Mill St.).

  • 3:00 PM – StarShine Welcome
  • 3:05 PM – St. Michael School Students Performance
  • 4:00 PM – Reading of the StarShine Poem by Deb Clancy
  • 4:05 PM – Judy Hillyard’s Signing Group 20th Anniversary Performance
  • 4:50 PM – Soloist Meggie Pratt Performance
  • 5:00 PM – Penn Yan Theatre Company’s Penn Yan Youth Ambassador Program. More Details.
  • 5:30 PM – Keuka College Dance Team

Make your way downtown and shop local merchants on Main Street. Grab a “Christmas Crawl” card sponsored by the Downtown Business Council and visit participating local merchants anytime throughout the weekend for your chance to win a gift basket filled with goodies from downtown businesses. Don’t miss the Village of Penn Yan’s Christmas Tree in the mini-park, beautifully lit and a perfect spot for family photos or a quiet moment to soak in the holiday cheer.

While you’re on your way downtown, don’t miss the Yates County History Center’s Open House at the Oliver House Museum (200 Main St., Penn Yan) from 3:00-6:00pm for refreshments, music, and beautifully festive decorations. Children will love picking a toy from the Christmas tree, making this a perfect stop to add a touch of history and warmth to your StarShine celebration.

Cap off the evening with the spectacular Lights on Wheels Parade at 6:00pm!

This festive parade features creatively lit vehicles, floats, and more, spreading holiday cheer as they travel along the new route: starting on East Main Street, continuing through Main Street, and ending at the Yates Community Center on North Main Street.

PARADE AWARDS: Voting for the following awards will take place during the parade by a handful a local celebrity judges. The following awards will be given out:

  • Best Use of Theme
  • Best Tractor
  • Best Float
  • Most Holiday Spirit
  • Best Overall
