Standoff In Bath Ends With Suspect Suffering Gunshot Wound

SHARE NOW

A several-hours-long standoff in the town of Bath that started Sunday night concluded early Monday morning when the suspect was taken into custody after suffering a gunshot wound to his leg. It is not known at this time if the man was shot by police or if it was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  The unidentified man was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment.

The incident on Roosevelt Avenue in the town of Bath started at around 10 o’clock with neighbors hearing what they thought were fireworks but instead were later confirmed to be gunshots.  Residents in the immediate area were evacuated. The suspect held police at bay for nearly three hours while brandishing a gun of his own and firing it.  No members of law enforcement were struck and no injuries to the public were immediately reported.

We are still awaiting more information from State Police or the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office on the incident and will update this story when it is made available.
